About DeKalb County Court Records

Court records in DeKalb County, Georgia live across several offices: the Clerk of Superior Court, the State Court Clerk, the Probate Court, the Magistrate Court, the Sheriff's Office, and a handful of state-level Georgia agencies. Finding the right office on the first try is half the battle. We built this site so visitors can land on the right portal, address, or phone number without bouncing between Decatur-area government websites.

Why We Built This Site

Georgia gives the public broad access to court records under the Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. ยง 50-18-70 et seq. The hard part is figuring out which office holds the file in DeKalb. The Clerk of Superior Court handles felony, divorce, and major civil Superior Court cases. The State Court Clerk handles misdemeanor and State Court traffic filings. The Probate Court handles estates, marriage licenses, and weapons carry licenses. The Magistrate Court handles small claims, dispossessory, and warrant applications. The Sheriff's Office manages the DeKalb County Jail roster and the warrant unit. Add the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Georgia Department of Driver Services, and the federal Northern District of Georgia, and the picture gets crowded fast. We pull together the contact details, search portals, fee schedules, and request steps for each of these offices into one place.

What You Will Find Here

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any DeKalb County court, the Clerk of Superior Court, the State Court Clerk, the Probate Court, the Magistrate Court, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, the District Attorney's Office, or any Georgia state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:

  • We cannot file paperwork or send records requests on your behalf
  • We cannot issue certified copies of any court document or vital record
  • We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
  • We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now

Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.

Search Partners

Some pages on this site include search boxes powered by third-party providers. Those companies set their own pricing and run their own services. When you use one of those tools and it leads to a paid signup, we may earn a referral fee. That revenue helps keep this site free for visitors. We do not control what those tools charge or what shows up in their results.

Keeping Information Current

Clerk offices move. Hours change. Phone numbers get reassigned. We update pages as we hear about changes, but gaps happen. Before you drive to a courthouse, call ahead first.
