How to Find Recently Released DeKalb County Inmates
Search the Sheriff's Tyler Jail Search portal at portal-gadekalb.tylertech.cloud/app/JailSearch. Type at least three characters of a name. Each result card shows the booking date and release date. Apply the Date Released filter to limit results to a recent window. Options include Today, Yesterday, Past Week, Past Month, Past 3 Months, Past Year, and a Custom date range.
Click View Jailing on a result to read the precise release date and time, the facility, the arresting agency, and the charges. A release date does not always mean the person went home. A transfer, a hold by another agency, or a separate sentence may apply. The inmate records page covers the Tyler portal in detail.
Why DeKalb Has No Separate Released-Only List
The Sheriff's site does not publish a separate "released inmates only" page. Tyler Jail Search exposes Date Released as a searchable field on every jailing record. The portal's results screen and its Filter Results panel allow date-based limits. Together, the name search and the date filter approximate a released-inmates view, even without a dedicated page.
A search that shows a release date is informational only. Custody status can change after release for many reasons. A person released on bond can be back in custody on a probation violation the next day. A person released after a sentence can be supervised by parole, probation, or another reentry program.
Using Tyler Jail Search's Date Released Filter
The Date Released facet appears in the Filter Results side panel after a search runs. The default options cover Today, Yesterday, Past Week, Past Month, Past 3 Months, Past Year, and Custom. The Custom from and to date inputs accept any range. The portal will narrow the results to records that show a release within that range.
For a "who was released in DeKalb yesterday" query, leave the search bar blank or use a broad surname, then apply Date Released equals Yesterday. The results are still subject to the 3-character search rule and pagination (10 results per page). For a specific name, set the name and apply the Date Released filter together.
Setting Up Release Notifications With VINELink
VINELink at vinelink.com is the victim notification and custody-status portal that covers Georgia agencies. A registered user receives email or phone notifications when the named offender's custody status changes. Registration requires contact information and verification.
| Field | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| State | dropdown or search | yes | Select Georgia. |
| Name or ID | text | optional | Person search. |

Searching the Georgia Department of Corrections Offender Query
The Georgia DOC offender query at gdc.georgia.gov searches sentenced state prisoners. A DeKalb defendant released from the county jail may have been transferred to GDC custody. The GDC query is the right tool for state prison custody verification.

| GDC ID or Case Number | text | optional | Exact identifiers where known. |
| Last Name | text | optional | Name search. |

Federal BOP Inmate Locator
The Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator at bop.gov/inmateloc searches federal inmates and former federal inmates. A DeKalb resident facing federal prosecution in the Northern District of Georgia may end up in BOP custody, not the DeKalb jail or GDC custody.

| Find by Number tab | tab | optional | BOP Register Number, DCDC, FBI, or INS Number. |

BOP search is the right tool for federal custody. It is not the right tool for state or county prison searches.
The Georgia Sex Offender Registry
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation sex offender registry at services.georgia.gov covers post-release registration where Georgia law requires it. A DeKalb resident required to register will appear in the registry after release.
| Field | Type | Required | Notes |

What "Release" Actually Means in DeKalb
A release date in the Tyler jail portal can mean several things. Release on bond, release after dismissal, release after sentence completion, release after transfer to GDC custody, release to federal custody, release to another jurisdiction's jail, release to mental-health or treatment programs, and release to probation or parole supervision can all show as a "release" event on the jail record.
For an urgent question about whether a person actually went home, the family or victim should check GDC, BOP, VINELink, and court dockets in addition to the jail portal. A release time can also post after processing, so the jail listing may lag the actual exit.
Parole and Probation Information
Released DeKalb defendants may be supervised by Georgia Department of Community Supervision for felony probation and parole. State Court probation is supervised by the State Court probation office. Magistrate Court matters generally do not carry long-term probation supervision, though specific conditions can apply.
For a victim or family member who needs to know about supervision conditions, the supervising agency is the right contact. Court records may also reflect probation orders and conditions. The court records page covers Smart Search for case-file lookup.

Note: A released DeKalb defendant should keep court and DDS notice obligations current to avoid bench warrants and license consequences.
Civil Rights Restoration After Release
Georgia restores felony voting rights after completion of sentence. Sentence completion includes incarceration, probation, parole, and any payment terms that are part of the sentence. A released DeKalb felon should confirm completion with the supervising agency before assuming voting rights are restored.
Firearm rights restoration is more limited and generally requires pardon or restoration processes. A released felon should not assume firearm possession is legal without individualized legal advice. Other collateral consequences, such as professional licensing restrictions, may apply for specific offenses. The criminal records page covers Georgia record restriction under O.C.G.A. ยง 35-3-37.
